About WAETAG
WAETAG is a non-profit Washington state organization which supports the
education of gifted and talented persons through an annual conference for
professionals and with a web site and newsletter filled with resources
relevant to gifted youth and educators.
Join this network of dedicated and
concerned professionals who are continually striving to better meet the
needs of gifted and talented youth in Washington State.
WAETAG is the cornerstone of three organizations whose main focus is gifted
education in Washington State. (Washington Association of Educators for Talented
and Gifted, Northwest Gifted Child Association and Washington Coalition for
Gifted Education.
Major activities for WAETAG
- Serving as a link between educators and parents for local, state, and national
resources relating to gifted children and their education.
- Providing an annual state-wide conference with nationally known speakers and
Washington resources
- Supporting the Leadership Conference for Gifted each summer in conjunction with
the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction's office
- Regional meetings to share resources in various geographic areas around the
state
- Newsletter with relevant information about activities, curriculum, advocacy
efforts at the state and national level
- Participating on State Advisory Board for Gifted Education
- Giving Gifted Student Scholarships for summer learning opportunities
- Maintaining a web site with information on a variety of resources and contacts
at the regional, state and national level
