The WAETAG Board is very excited to invite you to attend the 2009 WAETAG Conference. The conference will be held October 23-24, 2009 at the Embassy Suites, North Lynnwood in Lynnwood, Washington, approximately 15 miles north of Seattle. Registration will be available here after June 15, 2009.

The key presenter on both Friday night and Saturday this year will be:

Dr. Bertie Kingore is an international consultant who has worked with students, their teachers, and their parents for over 30 years. Recognized for her humorous and practical presentations, her energetic sessions leave teachers revitalized and eager to implement her shared ideas and learning experiences in their own classrooms. Dr. Kingore and her husband, Richard, are the parents of three gifted sons whose needs and talents fuel her dedication to gifted education.

Dr. Kingore is the author of numerous articles, instructional aids, and 24 books on education. She has received many honors including the Outstanding Alumnus Award from the University of North Texas where she earned her Ph.D. She is a past President of the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented and was also recognized as the Texas Gifted Educator of the Year.

About WAETAG

WAETAG is a non-profit Washington state organization which supports the education of gifted and talented persons through an annual conference for professionals and with a web site and newsletter filled with resources relevant to gifted youth and educators. Join this network of dedicated and concerned professionals who are continually striving to better meet the needs of gifted and talented youth in Washington State.

WAETAG is the cornerstone of three organizations whose main focus is gifted education in Washington State. (Washington Association of Educators for Talented and Gifted, Northwest Gifted Child Association and Washington Coalition for Gifted Education.

Major activities for WAETAG

  • Serving as a link between educators and parents for local, state, and national resources relating to gifted children and their education.
  • Providing an annual state-wide conference with nationally known speakers and Washington resources
  • Supporting the Leadership Conference for Gifted each summer in conjunction with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction's office
  • Regional meetings to share resources in various geographic areas around the state
  • Newsletter with relevant information about activities, curriculum, advocacy efforts at the state and national level
  • Participating on State Advisory Board for Gifted Education
  • Giving Gifted Student Scholarships for summer learning opportunities
  • Maintaining a web site with information on a variety of resources and contacts at the regional, state and national level
